I wanted to get a closeup of the beautiful cut glass on this Vardy.

James Vardy & Moritz Platow were granted an English patent, No. 8201 issued Aug. 17, 1839 for a kind of urn percolator employing the vacuum process of coffee making, the upper vessel being made of glass and later made of metal.
This wonderful vacuum urn has been in my collection for years. I believe this type of percolator to be a significant piece of coffee brewing history.
